HISTORY

Shaitan of Corsica was built in Singapore in the Promet Shipyard under the supervision of Capt. Gerard Lay and completed in Vietnam in September of 1997. Having designed, built and modified numerous offshore custom vessels during his 35 years of professional life at sea and working together with a strong team of highly skilled shipbuilders and marine architects, he was able to combine all these experiences and achieve his goal in building Shaitan.

The Shaitan concept was developed over many years and inspired by the owners yearn for more security and stability, and less exposure to harsh weather conditions, which all became key factors during the design process. To achieve these concepts, he used different hull types, combining the stability of a catamaran hull, the seaworthiness of a heavy displacement commercial vessel and the fine hull lines of racing boats from around the world.

These are only some of the highlights of the design concept; she is uniquely designed and carefully thought out with professionalism , experience, passion and love.

Performance
This motor sailing yacht has proven exceptional sea worthiness and the ability to cruise any latitude anytime, with safety and confidence. In a 24 hour period she has sailed at 10.2 knots for 246 NM. with an average of 180 NM at 7.5 knots.

Design
She has been designed to be sailed single-handedly and has a beaching capability using the retractable centerboard. Combining the stability with the shallow draft, the wide beam hull and fully retractable centerboard make it perfect for socialising during a stop over without having visitors climbing over the deck and cockpit. The large flat cockpit, flat unobstructed open deck layout, and low back deck make it possible to dive off or board the boat without having to climb the side or the stern.

Comfort and Luxury
She is a boat able to sail comfortably for months with family and friends or as a charter for guests. There are four double cabins, three bathrooms and a huge living room with a 3.6-meter high ceiling. With 4 cabins, she can comfortably sleep 10 people. The interior is magnificent, with wall panels done in beautiful Vietnamese mahogany and the floors are made with Vietnamese oak with mahogany inlay.

Safety
She is a boat which could sail safely in any weather condition and any latitude - the high freeboard, heavy scantling, fully protected cockpit and roof with toughened glass make her strong and durable. Safety is maintained even in extreme sailing conditions, Shaitan of Corsica maintained control when caught in a fierce storm in the North Pacific with winds blowing at 70 knots, swells up to 40 feet and currents and wind seas of up to 25 feet. The boat can be manned with few crew members or single-handedly.

Economical
Shaitan of Corsica requires minimal maintenance and is capable of beaching anywhere away from a shipyard. Due to the custom designed fine hull shape, at a reasonable cruising speed under power, her twin 110 HP diesel engines will give you an outstanding range of 14 days at 7 knots burning 136 USG per day.
